Clippesby Mill, Acle, The Broads, oil painting on board

Posted On: Monday 6th June 2011
Summary: Clippesby mill on the Norfolk Broads is derelict, but I know the owner, and he intends to fully restore it in due course. I started the oil painting as preparation for a commission which was executed in watercolor.

clippesby mill BroadsI started this oil painting of Clippesby mill, near Acle in the Norfolk Broads, more than a year ago as part of a commission. It was a classic case of assuming the client would be happy with an oil painting when in fact he wanted a watercolor of his beloved mill. The watercolor was completed satisfactorally shortly afterwards, but I've had the half-started oil painting in the back of my mind ever since that time. And finally I got round to working on it last week.

So here it is, completed at last. 22"x15" Oil on board.
