Watercolour sketch of Eggborough power station cooling towers

Summary: On my way to the North of England last weekend, stopped for a break at Eggborough and did a watercolour sketch of the power station coolings towers

Cooling towers at power station watercolour sketchIndustrial buildings aren't the obvious choice for a painting, but in fact these power station cooling towers make an interesting subject for a watercolour sketch. Getting the curves of the towers just right is not as easy as it looks though. In the finished sketch I make the steam a little stronger by using permanent white gouache.
