Pastels sketch of Cley High Street, Norfolk

Posted On: Sunday 9th September 2012
Summary: Cley next the Sea is best known for its windmill, which is about 100 metres to my left. But I chose to paint the High Street in pastels instead.

cley painted in pastelsCley windmill was just over the tops of the houses to my left. The windmill has been painted by everyone from Roland Hilder to Edward Seago. Even I have painted it. But on this occasion I thought the High Street was quite attractive.

I set up my easel at the side of the road - it seemed to be very quiet. And then suddently cars appeared from nowhere and rather spoiled the atmosphere. So as a nod in their direction I put in a couple of cars.
