Oil study of the river in Cambridge in the snow
Today was the first snow of the winter in Cambridge and I couldn't wait to get out and paint. This is one of two small oil studies done from Elizabeth Way bridge overlooking the river Cam. The dull sky and lots of dark figures had something of Lowry about it.

17 fast sketches at Mill Road Winter Fair 2011 Cambridge UK
Mill Road in Cambridge UK is closed to traffic for one day while lots of shops spill out onto the street. Plus music and other events. I decided to do as many sketches as possible in one hour, managing 17, and filmed them with a camcorder tucked into my jacket

I painted this view of some runners in the Norwich half marathon from the back of the pickup to get a good view. Cold sunny afternoon. Good painting weather and I was using oils and my pochade box on a tripod
