Painting with water mixable oil paint on location at the Gog Magog hills

From brilliant sunshine to pouring rain, this small painting using water mixable oil paint was completed on location in the comfort of the car. The scene is a view over Cambridge from the Gog Magog Hills

This quick oil sketch using water mixable oil paints was done from the car as an exercise in simply keeping in painting practice. However, it turned out to be interesting from the point of view of the weather. As you'll see in the video, one minute I had a magnificant sunny view over Cambridge from the Gog Magog Hills, the next it was pouring with rain.

Fortunately I was in the car. If you have a small pochade painting kit that you can rest on your knee, and an easy to use medium like water mixable oils, it's quite possible to paint from the passenger seat of a small car.
