Here's a really versatile way of taking your painting equipment with you
I've found a truly versatile version of an art rucksack that does just about everything apart from cooking your breakfast. It's here on video
I haven't had this for long but it's brilliant. Lots of storage space but much more than that:- It has wheels so you can pull it after you when the path is reasonably smooth
- Wear it on your back when there isn't a path.
- Sit on it when either you are too tired to do 1. or 2., or you actually want to sit down to paint.
