Review of oilbars in the studio and on location

This is the fourth of my reviews of unusual painting mediums. In this case it's oilbars. There's a brief overview in the studio followed by a painting on location using a range of oilbars by three manufacturers

Oilbars are basically oil paint in a large stick. Using oilbars encourage a bold, broad, large-scale approach to oil painting that is not to everyone's taste. But jabbing away with a large oilbar on board or canvas is a great way to think about painting in a different way and will certainly make you create images in a different way if you are used to painting lots of detail. Here's how I got on with them:
