pastel of river blythThis was painted on the way back from a weekend in Southwold on the Suffolk coast. The river Blyth here in Suffolk begins to widen as it approaches the coast, and is quite tidal. So the marshes are fascinating.

The breeze picked up as I was painting so I packed up after half and hour and worked on the image back in the studio using a reference photo on my tablet. The way I do reference photos is to use my mobile phone which uploads directly to my cloud based storage, and from there it syncs automatically and wirelessly with my tablet. Much quicker than printing out photos.
