Summer tour 19 - Bewdley in pastels

Posted On: Monday 28th October 2013
Summary: Bewdley is a delightful market town to the West of Birmingham, and this was painting in pastels with the River Severn just over my shoulder.

bewdley pastelI think is actually the last painting from my late summer painting tour of the Lake District, Scotland and Northern Ireland. And at this point I was on the way home to Cambridge from North Wales. Bewdley is a lovely market town west of Birmingham, and near to Kidderminster. Famous for having flooded badly a few years ago. In fact where I am standing, the river Severn would have been over my head.

The sun was slanting obliquely across the face of these buildings, making the hanging baskets outside the pub stand out in a glorious blaze of colou. Ideal for pastels painting outdoors.
