Posted On: Wednesday 18th September 2013
Summary: Another painting on my summer tour - this time on the Northern cost of Northern Ireland at Ballintoy. A pastel done late one afternoon

ballintoyThis makes a nice contrast with the last blog of my pastel painting of  Logan harbour. Firstly this one is more gestural while the other rather considered and a bit laboured maybe. Secondly because that was a harbour in Scotland, and here I was painting a similar subject the next day across the water in Northern Ireland.

Something told me this was a special place, but there were too many people around. Another time I should have come down to the harbour at the crack of dawn. Then its character and history would have breathed life into my painting.
