Rome - outside Basilica San Clemente, in pastels

Posted On: Monday 27th May 2013
Summary: Sketched in pastels whilst waiting for coffee to arrive. The basilica San Clemente is one of the oldest in Rome - which is saying something.

pastel painting in rome. San ClementeI was in the bistro opposite the door to Basilica San Clemente (nice simple place to eat with nobody on the street trying to get you in. The owner is charming). One of the waiters was perched on his Vespa outside the door, and I liked the splash of colour. Quick sketches while waiting for  a coffee or food to arrive, is almost a ritual with me.
