breamore millI started this by preparing smooth Fabriano Watercolour paper with a wash of pale orange. When it was dry it then had a coat of colorfix pastel texture which leaves a fine sandpaper-like finish. This was a good overall colour to harmonise with the dead grasses and reeds in the foreground which I wanted to contrast strongly with the mill and its ancilliary buildings in the background along with the bridge over the river Avon. Very cold, I did as much as I could before my hands got too cold. Finished back in the studio.
