Summary: For the next week or so I'll be posting sketches, and paintings from my recent trip to the Niger Delta.

A week ago I returned from the Niger Delta in southern Nigeria where I was vdeoing for my friend Dr David Donovan who runs an amazing clinic and health-worker training program based in the village of Enekorogha, which can only be reached by boat. As David said to me on my first visit in 2004, "You don't get any backpackers up here, Noel." This is my third visit, and it's still true.

I'll say more about it later, but here is the first of my sketches  - in charcoal in this case - of the river Forcados (a distributory of the Niger) on the banks of which the village stands.
