Halsingfield sketchI was over at the village of  Haslingfield a few days ago to pick up some picture frames and sketched this sunset down a nearby lane. My pickup is ideal for going down tracks and getting to unusual locations.
This is only 4"x7" and I had to paint quickly as the sun faded. The increasingly strong sunset needed to be painted in really strong deep crimson red - it was after all the main point of the painting. It was important though to make the composition lead into the sunset itself.
