Reflections and sunshine - watercolour painting on location at Needingworth

needingworth watercolour paintingThe sun came out after a downpour at Needingworth in Cambridgeshire, UK, and I painted in watercolour. The paper was quite smooth but I still got some nice granulation in the foreground reflections in the puddles of rainwater.

This view - painted on a different occasion - is almost the opposite to that shown in this blog. You see the same row of thatched cottages in both paintings.  That one was painted in oils on a late, hot, summer's afternoon. It's also the subject of my video tutorial called:
