Pevensey Levels painted in oil on boardSussex is an English county which is south of London, almost on the South coast. Early in the morning this view of the Pevensey Levels stretched out into the distance. In the foreground the garden flowers were perking up in the morning sun

I was using oil on board and my pochade box. I walked around for while, looking for the best location and settled on this view mostly because there were trees on either side framing the view, and a bank of trees in the middle distance led the eye in the far distance. It's an old truism that a landscape should have a foreground, middle ground, and distance, and this picture describes that principle quite clearly I think.
